March

The world is descending into unrestrained chaos. On a positive note, the weather is getting better!

I've been:

  • Continuing to tinker with my personal design system
  • Sitting through endless chatter about AI
  • Getting into Claude

Reflections

It seems like AI is capturing everyone's attention like nothing else. I went for some beers with friends, one friend was going on about how he's used AI in his work and saved a bunch of time like he's some kind of genius. The topic of the monthly Bitcoin meetup was, you guessed it, AI. then the following week, I went to the city of Bath for a work away day. We did lightning talks whereby your chosen talk could either be WordPress 7 or AI. Nearly everyone chose the latter.

I did a demo of MegaTabs, tying in with AI by talking about how quickly and how few prompts it took for Claude to create the prototype.

A few weeks earlier I decided to switch from ChatGPT/Codex to Claude. I find the responses are generally better than ChatGPT, displaying more nuance, less confirmation bias and more tailored. I've only just scratched the surface of what it can do.

Creating MegaTabs was a perfect excuse to properly try out Claude. I used the web app chat interface at first. It output a react artifact which I could preview in a window within the interface. Remarkably created exactly what I was looking for. I downloaded and dropped it into a new NextJS website. Further tweaks were taken care of using the Claude CLI in my vscode terminal window. It was neat how it was able to generate a claude.md file to transfer context.
